Dar es Salaam, (28/11/2024): Absa Bank Tanzania today held a celebratory handover ceremony for the first winner of its ongoing Absa Spend & Win Campaign, marking a milestone in its three-month initiative aimed at encouraging digital transactions while empowering customers to achieve their goals.
During the event, Mr. Rashid Nassoro Said, the lucky winner of the first raffle draw conducted on 26 October 2024, was presented with the keys to a 2014 Subaru Forester by Absa Bank Tanzania’s Managing Director, Mr. Obedi Laizer. The ceremony, held at the bank’s headquarters, also featured the much-anticipated second raffle draw to determine the winner of the second car, set to be presented in December.
“This campaign reflects our purpose of ‘Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together, one story at a time.’ Through initiatives like this, we not only celebrate our customers but also support their aspirations,” said Mr. Laizer during the event. “We are committed to driving digital transformation and financial inclusion, empowering customers with convenient, secure banking solutions while offering life-changing opportunities like winning an SUV that can ease their pursuit of life goals.”
The Absa Spend & Win Campaign, launched on 10 September 2024, gives Absa customers the opportunity to win one of three Subaru Foresters by transacting digitally. With a minimum of 20 card transactions totaling TZS 5 million or more in a month, customers earn tickets for the monthly raffle draw. Additional digital transactions increase their chances of winning.
“Today, we also draw the name of the winner of the second raffle draw,” Mr. Laizer announced, as Mr. Rashid Nassoro Said conducted the raffle. The second winner will receive their prize at the upcoming final raffle draw event in December, during which the third and final winner will also be selected.
The campaign has already made a significant impact, with a marked increase in the use of Absa cards and digital channels over the first two months. While exact figures remain confidential, Mr. Laizer emphasized that the initiative is achieving its goal of driving digital adoption among customers.
“Digital banking is the future, and it’s key to expanding access to financial services in Tanzania,” said Mr. Laizer. “I encourage all our customers to continue transacting to increase their chances of winning the final car.”
