How to transfer funds to an Absa account

You can use the app to transfer funds to another Absa account. Discover how.

How to register
  1. Download Absa Tanzania Mobile App via google play store or Apple store
  2. Open the app on your device
  3. Click register
  4. Select your ID type
  5. Enter your ID number and date of birth
  6. Select verification method - account number or credit card (if you have one)
  7. Enter your bank details and click continue
  8. You receive OTP via SMS
  9. Enter the OTP
  10. Create an online banking username
  11. Create an online banking password
  12. Set SQA
  13. You will see a confirmation screen and your registration is complete
How to add a beneficiary

  • Airtime top up

    1. Open the Absa Tanzania Mobile App on your device
    2. Login
    3. Select more icon at the bottom right of the screen
    4. Select beneficiaries
    5. Select Add new beneficiary
    6. Select Buy Airtime
    7. Enter beneficiary name and select service provider
    8. Input cell number and click continue
    9. Review beneficiary details and click save
    10. Enter OTP
    11. You see a beneficiary created success screen, click done

  • Electricity

    1. Open the Absa Tanzania Mobile App on your device
    2. Login
    3. Select more icon at the bottom right of the screen
    4. Select beneficiaries
    5. Select Add new beneficiary
    6. Select pay bill
    7. Select electricity, then select IBE or LUKU
    8. Input meter number and beneficiary name and then click continue
    9. Review beneficiary details and click save
    10. Enter OTP
    11. You see beneficiary created success screen, click done

  • DSTV

    1. Open the Absa Tanzania Mobile App on your device
    2. Login
    3. Select the more icon at the bottom right of the screen
    4. Select Add new beneficiary
    5. Select pay a bill
    6. Select Television Subscription
    7. Select DSTV
    8. Enter smart card number and recipient name
    9. Select continue
    10. Review beneficiary details
    11. Click save
    12. Enter and confirm OTP
    13. You will see a confirmation screen

  • Fund transfer to an Absa account

    1. Open the Absa Tanzania Mobile App on your device
    2. Login
    3. Select the more icon at the bottom right of the screen
    4. Select beneficiaries
    5. Select Add new beneficiary
    6. Select Domestic Absa Account
    7. Enter account number, select branch name, add account holder's name and and click continue
    8. Review and save
    9. Enter OTP and comfirm
    10. You will see a confirmation screen and your beneficiary has been added
How to purchase electricity
  1. Open the Absa Tanzania Mobile App on your device
  2. Login
  3. Select Pay Bill icon
  4. Select registered biller (for saved beneficiary) or select pay a new biller for unsaved biller
  5. For new biller, select electricity, select LUKU or IBE, enter meter number and beneficiary name, then click continue
  6. Select account to debit from and enter amount
  7. Enter OTP for new beneficiary
  8. Review bill and confirm payment
  9. You see a confirmation screen
  10. You receive a token via SMS
How to do a fund transfer
  1. Open the Absa Tanzania Mobile App on your device
  2. Login
  3. Select 'Transact' icon at the bottom of the screen
  4. Select Absa to Absa
  5. Select Pay a new beneficiary or select the beneficiary from the list of saved beneficiaries
  6. Enter beneficiary details for new beneficiary (account number, branch code and beneficiary name)
  7. Select account to transfer from, select the currency, enter amount, enter reference and click next
  8. Enter OTP (for new beneficiary)
  9. Confirm transfer
  10. You see a confirmation screen and your transfer is complete
